MYLC Volunteer of the Year Award
The board is excited to announce that we will be giving out an award this year to the 3 members that complete the most hours within MYLC. We wanted to have this award to be able to celebrate the work you do as volunteers, and hopefully encourage all of you to volunteer more and be more involved in the community.
- Because we want you guys to volunteer for a diverse variety of events, and not just the ones you think are easy to get hours from, 10 hours can go toward the award from each event.
- Ex. if a member gets 20 hours from volunteering through Zooniverse, 20 hours from ICSA Swim Meet Volunteering, and 20 hours from Card for Hospitalized Kids, they would have 60 hours as their hour total, and would get credit for it for colleges, applications, etc. However, they would have 30 hours going toward the MYLC Volunteer of the Year award, since only 10 hours from each event can be counted for the award.
MYLC Rookie OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award goes to the new member that completes the most hours within MYLC. We wanted to give our new members something exciting, and if you’re new, we hope this encourages you to volunteer more and to try out the events we put on the website that seem interesting to you.
- To qualify for the award, you had to have joined in May 2021 or later.

Extra Half hour toward both awards
As we’re pushing for more in-person involvement to get members more directly involved in our local community, we are going to have an extra half hour to go toward the Volunteer of the Year Award [and toward the Rookie of the Year award for eligible members] for any member that goes in-person for at least 1 meeting while we are in a hybrid system.
Please email us at [email protected] if you have any questions about either of the awards!
- While going in-person will not give you any hours toward your volunteer hour total as a member, the extra half hour going toward the award will help you if you are trying for either or both of the awards.
