Youth science organization
- When: Dates vary
- Where: Virtual
- Who: You must be enrolled in at least the sixth grade or higher to be eligible to join YSO. If you have completed high school, you are not eligible to join. The uppermost grade allowed is anything under 12th grade.
- About: This opportunity is a great way to show your interest in knowledge of STEM topics. We have collaborated with YSO for this event, members will record videos on any STEM topic. Videos can explain the topic or solve problems related to the topic etc. Each video must be longer than 5 minutes and will give you one volunteer hour for every video. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A MEMBER OF YSO TO GET HOURS FOR MYLC. There is no limit to the number of videos you can make. To submit the video, please send the video in an email to [email protected].
- To Volunteer: Fill out this form ASAP if you’re interested in volunteering. After you fill out the information, you will be contacted with more information regarding volunteering (be sure to check your spam folder). Please leave a note saying that you want to upload videos to the channel.

VA Tutors
- When: Every week (schedule depends on the availability of the tutor and student)
- Where: Virtual or In-person service projects (venues can vary)
- Who: High-schoolers
- About: VA Tutors free (non-profit) tutoring organization from North Carolina aimed to help students all around the world. We provide free online K-10 Tutoring and SAT Tutoring (link to sign-up below) along with videos and walkthroughs of practice exams. Our tutoring courses and videos are made by the top 1% scorers. We strive to give every student the opportunity to learn and succeed.

- About: ABN is looking to help those in need by delivering groceries/essential supplies, technology help, yard work assistance, transportation, or those looking for someone to talk to while maintaining safety precautions and social distancing measures. measures.

MORRISVILLE Educational GARDEN
When: Saturdays 10 am - 12 pm
Location: 260 Town Hall Dr, Morrisville, NC 27560 This is the garden located at the farmers market location near the Chamber of Commerce. About: Help community members maintain their gardens at the Morrisville Educational Garden. Any produce coming out of the garden is donated to the Dorcas Ministries food bank to help local families! |
You MUST print, sign, and bring this form to the educational garden on your first visit. It is required by the Town once per year.
Remember to also print the MYLC paper hour log and have it signed by one of the garden supervisors. You will most likely meet with Ms. Donna Willard.

AventWest Children’s Mentoring
When:
1-2 hours a week depending on the times you pick.

Western Boulevard Presbyterian Church or Avent Ferry Methodist Church
About:
Volunteers are the heart and fuel of the Avent West Children’s Mentoring Program, providing transportation, food preparation, and tutoring. Volunteers are given an opportunity to serve their community, support children who are at risk academically and nutritionally, and build personal skills through engagement with the program. Joining as a volunteer requires no previous training or experience just a dedication to supporting the children and families of the AventWest community!

Volunteers will be providing assistance in various activities including: sorting out produce and food donations, creating CSFP and Disaster Relief boxes, packing food items such as cereal, pasta, eggs and other dry food.

You MUST be at least 16 years old to participate in this event. After you have done so, you will be contacted with more information on volunteering at the Warehouse Project.

About:
Volunteers will provide assistance in gardening tasks include weeding, mulching, pruning, composting and sprucing up. Less common, specific tasks may involve assembling or repairing raised beds, filling beds with soil.

Virtual Events
ZooniverseWhen: Anytime!
About: Contribute to ongoing research projects by volunteering on Zooniverse! There are many projects that you can choose from. Please be sure to choose projects that you feel will help further research that will help the world in some way. Certifications from multiple projects can go to earning the same hour. Some projects do take much longer than others, so if one project is taking too long, feel free to choose another. You must create an account for your progress to be saved. For us to be able you identify who you are and ensure that you were the one completing the classifications, your username MUST have your first name and last name in it. To receive credit for volunteering: Click your username in the upper right corner and select “HOME”. You should be able to see your completed projects and tasks. In order to receive credit for your hours, send us a screenshot showing how many classifications you have made. You will receive an hour for every 75 classifications made.
