PITCH LABS VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

About: Pitch Labs is an organization that aims to provide a place for entrepreneurs of all kinds to be able to receive free resources & help furthering their businesses, products, & ideas. Volunteers will help with Web Development (Front-end and Back-end) using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other technologies. Pitch Labs is backed by UNC Business School’s Young Founders Institute and Yale University’s Entrepreneurial Society. Depending on the amount of effort put into volunteering, you may receive an internship opportunity.

About: Note in the Pocket provides donated and purchased clothing to impoverished and homeless children and their families in Wake County.
Note in the Pocket will be accepting donations by appointment only. Please be sure to show up at the time slot you have indicated, and not before or after. We want to ensure that everyone is spread out, as safety is our top priority.

All donations should be delivered to Crossroads Fellowship (1.2 miles away from our Center) at 2721 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27604. Crossroads has been generous enough to allow us to use their facility for donations so we can expand our donation capacity.
Dropoff Location Instructions: You should enter Crossroads Fellowship on the north side of Millbrook. If coming from Atlantic, you will take a left into the campus. If coming from Capital Blvd, you will take a right into the campus. Once you pull into the Crossroads Fellowship campus, drive around the right side towards the back of the building. Follow the signs that say THRIFT STORE and continue to drive around to the back, past the 2 green dumpsters. They are located inside the building on that corner, and when you see a large Note in the Pocket Sign (on the ground), you have arrived!
Note in the Pocket will be putting your donations into one of our rolling carts. There is parking behind the building, but feel free to pull straight into the handicapped spots in front of the glass doors and someone will be there to assist you!
Their building will remain closed to the public, except for scheduled volunteers, so please no drop-ins. To donate your clothing an appointment is required. Please feel free to call them at 919-714-9403 or email them at [email protected] with any questions.

SCIENCE BUDDIES ASK AN EXPERT VOLUNTEER
When: Volunteers in the Ask an Expert forums check in on a scheduled day once a week in a forum that matches their area of expertise and provides guidance to students working on science projects. Volunteers typically spend thirty minutes to one hour, once a week, answering questions

In times and places where hope could use a boost, or where we are to give thanks, we create Minute Cards - giving a minute of inspiration, motivation, and strength. Join us in making a difference by spreading hope!

SCistarter citizen science project
When: Anytime!
Where: Virtual
About: SciStarter provides a database of thousands of vetted, searchable projects and events. The idea behind these projects is that anyone, anywhere, can take part in meaningful scientific research. You can find thousands of projects on the Citizen Science Project Finder. Create a SciStarter.org account to track your progress, receive personalized recommendations, learn about local events, and connect with project scientists and other citizen scientists.
To volunteer: You must create an account for your progress to be saved. For us to be able you identify who you are and ensure that you were the one completing the classifications, your username MUST have your first name and last name in it.
To receive credit for volunteering: Click your username in the upper right corner and select “Dashboard”. On the dashboard, you will see the projects, contributions, and events you participated in.
In order to receive credit for your hours, send us a screenshot showing us the projects you’ve completed by clicking on the project tab which is located in the Dashboard menu.
Hours will differ depending on the project you work on, SciStarter projects usually take between 15 minutes to an hour to complete.
Members can earn a maximum of 10 hours from SciStarter.

About: Robotics for All strives to provide equitable educational opportunities to students of all backgrounds, particularly low-income and under-represented students, with an emphasis on teaching the fields of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The goal of Robotics for All is to reduce the opportunity gap, allowing students to gain beneficial skills for the rest of their academic and professional careers. They believe that it is important for students to have access to a quality STEM education, regardless of socioeconomic status.
To volunteer: Visit the Robotics for All website. Apply for a position that you are interested in and if accepted, a member of the Robotics for All Leadership team will contact you with more information regarding volunteering.
To receive credit for volunteering: After volunteering as one of the positions for Robotics for All, attach a screenshot or testimonial from one of the executive board members of Robotics for All regarding the number of hours you’ve completed. Upload this testimonial or screenshot to the virtual MYLC hour log google form.
